Soft, Pillowy & Absolutely Irresistible
These doughnuts are made from a rich, yeasted dough, fried to golden perfection, and topped with your favorite glaze or coating. They’re surprisingly easy to make, and totally worth the effort.
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus more for kneading)
For Frying:
- Vegetable oil, for deep frying
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Optional toppings: cinnamon sugar, chocolate glaze, sprinkles, jelly for filling, etc.
