  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham (thinly sliced)
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese (or Gruyère)
  • 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water
  • 1 cup (120 g) breadcrumbs (preferably Panko for extra crunch)
  • ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) chicken broth
  • ½ cup (120 g) grated Swiss cheese
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
