This classic Chicago-style deep-dish pizza is a masterpiece of layers: buttery crust, gooey cheese, rich tomato sauce, and your favorite toppings. Perfect for when you want a hearty, indulgent pizza that’s as satisfying to make as it is to eat.

Ingredients (Serves 4-6)

For the Dough

  • 3 1/4 cups (410g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (115g) cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) olive oil
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted

For the Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Filling

  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups of your favorite toppings (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.)
