Hamburger Potato Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade if preferred)
  • 1/4 cup milk (or more, for desired consistency)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or Italian seasoning)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter (for greasing)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped green onions or parsley (for garnish)
