Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy

Tender beef patties smothered in caramelized onion and mushroom gravy — the ultimate comfort food!

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Steaks:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • â…“ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 egg
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil (for searing)

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional but classic)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ tsp mustard or soy sauce for depth
