Street Tacos de Carne Asada

1: Marinate the Beef

  1. In a large bowl or zip-top bag, combine all marinade ingredients.
  2. Add steak, coat well, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Step 2: Grill the Meat

  1. Heat a grill or grill pan over high heat.
  2. Remove steak from marinade and pat dry (for better sear).
  3. Grill 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.
  4. Let rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice thin against the grain, and chop into small taco-sized pieces.

Step 3: Warm the Tortillas

  • Heat corn tortillas in a dry skillet, directly over flame, or wrapped in foil in the oven until warm and pliable.

Step 4: Assemble Tacos

  • Add a few spoonfuls of chopped carne asada to each tortilla.
  • Top with diced onion, chopped cilantro, and a squeeze of lime.
  • Serve with your favorite salsas or guacamole on the side.

Pro Tips:

  • Char the tortillas a little for that street-style smoky flavor
  • Use leftover steak for taco salads or quesadillas
  • Want more heat? Add a drizzle of chipotle sauce or sprinkle of crushed chili flakes
