Fried corn is a delightful dish that’s easy to make and offers a wonderful combination of sweetness and savory flavors. There are several ways to prepare it, either by frying corn kernels in a skillet or roasting whole ears in a pan. Below, I’ll give you two simple methods to enjoy fried corn.
Skillet Fried Corn Kernels
Ingredients:
- 4 cups fresh corn kernels (about 4-6 ears, depending on size)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional, for creaminess)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Heat the Pan:
- In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat until the butter is melted.
- Cook the Onion:
- If using onions, add them to the skillet and cook until they are translucent and slightly golden, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add Corn:
- Add the fresh corn kernels to the skillet. Stir well to coat the corn in the butter and oil. Let it cook without stirring for about 2-3 minutes to allow some of the kernels to brown slightly. Stir and repeat a few times until the corn is tender and has some golden spots, about 10 minutes total.
- Season and Finish:
- Season the corn with salt and pepper. If using cream, pour it over the corn and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
- Serve:
- Serve hot as a side dish or incorporate into tacos, salads, or as a topping for grilled meats.
Pan-Roasted Whole Ears of Corn

- 4 whole ears of corn, husks and silks removed
