John Astin – Age 95
Although the late great Raul Julia is renowned for making the role of Gomez Addams his own, the original blueprint was laid down by veteran legend John Astin. Astin played the character in the ’60s version of the TV show, which is where the iconic theme tune was made famous.
But Astin was more than just an Addams. He also had a role in the 1961 West Side Story and the 1976 rendition of Freaky Friday. Astin was married to actress Patty Duke for 13 years, and he became stepfather to her son, Sean Astin, who is notable for playing the hobbit Samwise Gamgee in The Lord Of The Rings.
