One of the pioneers of slapstick, film farces, and parodies, Mel Brooks, has starred in, written, or directed some of the best film comedies in Hollywood. As a writer and actor, he achieved success with the ’50s production Your Show Of Shows. He also has a writing credit for the hit series Get Smart.
But it was as a director that Brooks had his most significant success, making acclaimed and popular comedies such as Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs, History Of The World Part I, and Robin Hood: Men In Tights. He is also one of the few entertainers who have achieved an EGOT (Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar, and Tony award).
