Cumin Squid Recipe

Tender squid rings tossed in garlic, cumin, chilies, and green onions — fiery, fragrant, and perfect with rice or on its own.

Ingredients (Serves 2–3):

  • 1 lb squid, cleaned and cut into rings or strips
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine or dry sherry (optional, for marinating)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or peanut oil)

Aromatics & Spices:

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp grated ginger (optional)
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili flakes or dried red chilies, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground Sichuan peppercorns (optional, for a numbing heat)
  • 2–3 scallions, cut into 2-inch sections
  • Optional: sliced red onion or bell pepper for color
