Meatball Sandwiches

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer the browned meatballs to a baking sheet.
  5. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through.
  6. While the meatballs are baking, prepare your sandwiches. Split the hoagie rolls or sandwich buns and place them on a baking sheet.
  1. Spread marinara sauce on one side of each roll. Place a few meatballs on top of the sauce, then add a spoonful of additional marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  2. Top the meatballs with sliced mozzarella cheese.
  3. Optional: Add sliced onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms on top of the cheese.
  4. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the rolls are lightly toasted.
  5. Remove the sandwiches from the oven and serve hot.
