Indian Frybread Recipe

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add warm water, stirring until dough forms.

Step 2: Knead and Rest

Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for about 20-30 minutes.

Step 3: Shape and Fry

Divide dough into equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a thin round disc, about ¼-inch thick.

Step 4: Cook the Frybread

Heat about 1-2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry dough discs one at a time until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Serving Suggestions:

Enjoy frybread topped with honey and powdered sugar, or use as a base for tacos filled with ground beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and salsa for a hearty meal!
