Japanese Tonkatsu

Ingredients:

  • 2 boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
  • Shredded cabbage (for serving)
  • Tonkatsu sauce (store-bought or homemade)

For Homemade Tonkatsu Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional for extra tang)
