Soft Butter Cake

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This may take about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs:
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Add Dry Ingredients and Milk:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Add Vanilla Extract:
    • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Pour Batter into Pan:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool:
    • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Optional: Dust with powdered sugar or frost with your favorite icing.

This soft butter cake is wonderful on its own or with a dusting of powdered sugar. It’s a great base for layer cakes, sheet cakes, or cupcakes. Feel free to customize it with your favorite frosting or toppings. Enjoy the rich, buttery goodness!
