Ingredients:

For the Pie Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening (or butter, chilled and cut into pieces)
  • 4-6 tablespoons ice water

For the Apple Filling:

  • 2 cups chopped peeled apples (for peach filling, substitute with fresh peaches)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

For Frying:
