Step 1: Make the Sloppy Joe Filling
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft.
- Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire, mustard, and brown sugar.
- Simmer uncovered for 10–15 minutes, until thick and saucy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 2: Make the Garlic Toast
- Mix butter, garlic powder, and parsley together.
- Spread over both sides of each bread slice.
- Toast in a skillet or bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping once, until golden and crispy.
- (Optional) Sprinkle with cheese and broil for 1–2 minutes until melted.
Step 3: Assemble
- Spoon hot sloppy joe mixture over each piece of garlic toast.
- Serve open-faced or stacked like a sandwich.
Tips:
- Make it a kid-friendly meal night with a side of fries or apple slices.
- Leftover filling keeps well for 2–3 days and can be served over pasta, rice, or baked potatoes!
