Butchi (Filipino Sesame Seed Balls)
Ingredients:
For the Sweet Mongo Filling:
- 1 cup peeled split mung beans (munggo)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Water for boiling
For the Sweet Rice Dough:
- 2 cups glutinous rice flour
- 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- Sesame seeds for coating
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
Prepare the Sweet Mongo Filling:
- Boil Mung Beans:
- Rinse the mung beans and place them in a pot. Add enough water to cover the beans and bring to a boil. Simmer until the beans are soft, about 20-30 minutes.
- Drain excess water and mash the boiled mung beans. Mix in the sugar. Set aside to cool.
