A rich and creamy seafood bisque is the perfect comfort food for any occasion. This Crab and Shrimp Bisque combines succulent crab meat and tender shrimp in a luscious, flavorful broth. It’s elegant enough for a dinner party and simple enough for a cozy night in.

Ingredients

  • For the Seafood Stock:
    • 1 pound shrimp shells (from peeled shrimp)
    • 1 small onion, roughly chopped
    • 1 carrot, roughly chopped
    • 1 celery stalk, roughly chopped
    • 2 garlic cloves, smashed
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 4 cups water
  • For the Bisque:
    • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 1 pound lump crab meat
    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1 carrot, finely chopped
    • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup dry white wine
    • 2 cups seafood stock (from above)
    • 2 cups heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
    • Lemon wedges, for serving
