Homemade Cronuts (Croissant Donuts)

Crispy on the outside, tender and layered inside — these cronuts are made with a simplified laminated dough and fried to perfection.

Ingredients (Makes about 8 cronuts)

For the Dough:

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup cold unsalted butter (for laminating)

For Frying:
