Ingredients:

For the Buns:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk is best)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup raisins or currants (or a mix of both)
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp honey

For the Cross:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Glaze:

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
