Prepare Marshmallow Mixture

Making marshmallows at home involves creating a fluffy, sweet mixture using gelatin, sugar, and a few other simple ingredients. Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide to help you prepare a perfect marshmallow mixture.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin (or 3 packets, each 7g)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water (for blooming the gelatin)
  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water (for the sugar syrup)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or any other flavoring of choice)
  • Optional: Food coloring (for colored marshmallows)

Step 1: Bloom the Gelatin

  1. Prepare the Gelatin
    • In the bowl of a stand mixer (or a large heatproof bowl if using a hand mixer), sprinkle the gelatin over 1/2 cup of cold water. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes to bloom. The gelatin will absorb the water and become spongy.

Step 2: Make the Sugar Syrup
