Spaghetti

1. Prepare the Tomato Sauce:

  • In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes (with their juice).
  • Add dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  • If the sauce is too acidic, you can add a teaspoon of sugar to balance the flavors.
  • Simmer the sauce over low heat for at least 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer you simmer, the richer the flavor.

2. Cook the Spaghetti:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente.
  • Drain the cooked spaghetti.

3. Combine and Serve:

  • Add the cooked and drained spaghetti to the tomato sauce.
  • Toss the spaghetti in the sauce until it is well coated.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
  • Serve the spaghetti hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if you like.

Enjoy your classic spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce! You can customize this recipe by adding cooked meatballs, ground beef, or vegetables to the sauce if you prefer.
